Appointments/Phone Calls
Appointments can be made by calling the office 8am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, and from about 8 am until 10:30 am on Saturdays.
The time allotted for each appointment depends on the nature of the child's problem. Therefore, when calling for an appointment, please give the receptionist enough detail so that she may assign both time and priority to meet your needs. PLEASE CALL IF YOU CANNOT KEEP YOUR APPOINTMENT. If you have a true emergency, do not bother to call us - call 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency room.
Routine questions are welcomed during regular office hours. The receptionist will take your name, number and nature of question or problem and a doctor will get back with you when there is a break between patients. Please be patient as sick children in the office take priority over routine questions, but your call will be answered the day it is received. If you feel your questions can be answered by our nurses, feel free to ask to speak with one of them.
Please help us when telephoning by knowing certain facts about your child's condition - temperature, number of vomiting episodes or diarrheal stools, appetite, what treatment you've tried, etc. This will help us to more accurately assess your child's problem.
All prescriptions and authorizations for renewals should be requested during normal office hours. Please allow 24 hours for prescription refills.
Except in very rare instances, WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE ANTIBIOTICS OVER THE PHONE WITHOUT FIRST SEEING YOUR CHILD. We feel if a child is ill enough to require antibiotics, he should be examined to determine the nature of the illness so treatment can be more precise.
